Learning Beyond the Classroom at Pinnacle ELC Beacon St
At Pinnacle ELC Beacon St, learning can happen in many places. Through activities at the centre, outings in the local community and time exploring nature, children have opportunities to encounter new experiences and follow their curiosity.
Olivia, one of the centre’s Nominated Supervisors, introduces some of these experiences, from sports, music and dance classes to visits around the neighbourhood.
Incursions: sports, music and dance at the centre
The centre offers incursions that include sports, music and dance classes. These sessions bring different activities into the children’s day and give them opportunities to take part, explore new interests and enjoy learning through experience.
Excursions around the community
Excursions offer a chance to explore familiar places from a new perspective. Children visit the library, the park and the supermarket. A recent addition has been a tram ride to Burwood One Shopping Centre.
These outings bring children into contact with places and experiences in their local area, helping them discover more about the community around them.
Exploring nature through Bush Kinder
Bush Kinder is a new program at Pinnacle ELC Beacon St. It gives children opportunities to spend time outdoors and explore the natural environment.
Noticing what is around them, following questions and experiencing nature firsthand can make the outdoors an engaging place for curiosity and discovery.
Learning through real-world experiences
From a music class at the centre to a tram ride through the neighbourhood, each experience offers something different to notice and explore. Together, incursions, excursions and Bush Kinder give children ways to engage with their surroundings, build confidence through new experiences and connect with their community.
