Meet Rachel M.: Supporting Children's Learning in the Investigators Room at Pinnacle ELC Glen Huntly
At Pinnacle Early Learning Centre Glen Huntly, our educators play an important role in creating meaningful learning experiences that help children explore, develop new skills and grow in confidence.
In this team introduction, we meet Rachel M., an educator originally from the UK who has been part of the Pinnacle ELC Glen Huntly team since February 2024. Rachel works in our Investigators Room, supporting children aged 2.5 to 3.5 years as they discover the world around them.
Every Day Brings Something New
One of the things Rachel loves most about early childhood education is that no two days are the same.
She enjoys seeing the wonderful ideas children come up with, watching their curiosity unfold and discovering how they approach new experiences. For Rachel, these everyday moments make working with young children rewarding and exciting.
By providing opportunities for children to explore, experiment and express their ideas, educators can support their natural curiosity and encourage a love of learning.
Learning Through Outdoor Activities and Messy Play
In the Investigators Room, Rachel enjoys incorporating outdoor activities and messy play into children's daily experiences.
These hands-on activities allow children to explore different materials, textures and environments while learning through play. They also create opportunities for children to make choices, solve problems, develop their creativity and interact with their peers.
Whether children are exploring outdoors or experimenting with materials during messy play, each experience offers opportunities to develop skills at their own pace.
Developing Early Pre-Writing Skills
As children grow and prepare to move into the next kindergarten room, Rachel also supports their early pre-writing development.
Pre-writing experiences help children begin developing the fine motor control and hand coordination needed for future writing. Through age-appropriate activities and playful experiences, children can practise the movements and skills that support their next stage of learning.
These early experiences form part of a broader learning journey, helping children gradually build the foundations they will use as they approach school.
Watching Children Grow and Change
For Rachel, one of the most rewarding aspects of working in early learning is watching children develop over time.
Seeing children grow from their early days in the baby room through to their kindergarten years and eventually prepare for school is a special part of being an educator.
Every stage brings new discoveries, growing independence and changing interests. Being able to support children through these milestones allows educators to build meaningful relationships with them and their families.
